EU parliamentarians, hindi pinayagan ng PNP na bisitahin si Sen. De Lima

Ang mga delegado ng Global Progressive Forum (GPF) noong Sabado ay nadismaya matapos pigilan sila ng Philippine National Police (PNP) mula sa pagbisita kay Sen. Leila de Lima.

Ang Pangulo ng GPF na si Enrique Guerrero Salom, kasama si Robert Hans Neuser, kapwa miyembro ng European Parliament, ay hindi pinayagan na bisitahin si De Lima sa kabila ng pagsunod sa 10-araw na required notice rule.



“We asked permission (from the PNP) in order to visit her and we are disappointed with the result. We are concerned with the situation of Senator De Lima,” sinabi ni Salom sa isang press conference.

Dagdag pa nito, “We fully respect the Philippine legal regulations, but we think that there are enough (reasons) to release Senator De Lima and to allow her to play her role as a Senator representing the people of this country because she has been elected by the people,”.



Ang mga dayuhang delegado, na dumating sa Pilipinas upang makipagkita kay De Lima, ay nagsumite ng kanilang kahilingan upang makita ang senador simula pa noong Oktubre 26 ngunit ito’y walang pakinabang.

Si De Lima ay na-detained noong Pebrero sa PNP Custodial Center dahil sa mga drug charges.
