Official Statement of Resorts World Manila on a Shooting Incident



Owen Cammayo, AVP - Director for Corporate Communications at Resorts World Manila, released an official statement in his Facebook regarding the tragic incident occurred in Resorts World Manila (RWM) last Thursday midnight.

“At approximately 12 midnight on June 2, 2017, a lone gunman barged into Resorts World Manila firing shots and setting gaming tables on fire. The Company’s security, together with police authorities, launched a hot pursuit and at around 7 a.m. this morning, the gunman was found dead. He had taken his own life by setting himself on fire followed by a self-inflicted gunshot wound.”



There were 54 injured and they were rushed into neighboring hospitals according to Cammayo in addition to this, the BFP started to conduct a search and rescue operations in the complex. “It is with deep regret that we have been informed of several casualties, the number and identities of whom have yet to be determined.”

The RWM is asking for the public’s understanding regarding the incident. Cammayo then stated “This cowardly act of a deranged mind will not defeat the spirit on which Resorts World Manila was built. With your prayers, we will overcome this tragedy.”



But around 2PM, Cammayo released another statement regarding the RWM terrible incident.

He detailed that there were 35 reported casualties on the tragic incident, but the management cant release the identities of the victims because it was still under cross examination of the SOCO.

The RWM extends their support to the victims, and expressed their condolences to the bereaved families.

“This unexpected violent attack on innocent lives will not break the spirit on which Resorts World Manila was built. We ask for your prayers during these dark hours,” said Cammayo.
