"To make the ICC case less compelling is the fact that it is a far cry from genocide or crimes against humanity when in order to fight a disgusting scourge like the PH drug problem, 4-10k are killed in contrast to 1.4 millions who surrendered for rehabilitation. If PRD killed the 1.4 million, then perhaps they have a case. But thoese killed are either due to legitimate police operations or drug related killings, usually, normal occurrences in countries with drug problems like the US, Mexico and the likes."

Magdalo Representative and oppositions Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV submitted a complaint to ICC against President Duterte over the alleged of crimes against humanity in connection to the administrations serious war on drugs campaign.

Law expert also shares some facts that will support that the the country can stand in spite of its withdrawal from ICC as we have a working system of human rights and judicial system.

Atty. Bruce said the problem of the ICC is that they've lost their moral compass where in they strictly prosecute a less powerful countries and just ignore the issues from the powerful nations.

"Here is where the problem of the ICC lies. It has lost moral compass when it can rigidly prosecute less powerful nations and conveniently disgregard the powerful ones who chose not to sign the Rome Statute. You cannot be a criminal court of the world but only to the small ones with the exception of the bullies."

"It just so happened that we elected a leader who does not want to be bullied and told what to do and the usual wimps we put to office."

THE ICC IS ALREADY INTERFERING WITH OUR DOMESTIC AFFAIRS

The Dilawans do not realize this but by being openly antagonistic against PRD, the ICC is actually interfering in purely domestic squabbles. Let us face it, the prime movers of the ICC case are anti-Duterte and the Filipino judge sitting in the ICC, Dr. Pangalangan is the former EIC of Inquirer. So since it fits the narrative of the Dilawans, they are okey with it. If the roles are reversed or if it was PNoy or another person being persecuted, it will be should still be the same objection.

Remember when PNoy was asked by Hong Kong to apologize for the poor handling of the Luneta hostage taking resulting in the deaths of HK nationals, PNoy did not say sorry. In fact, Erap said sorry just to appease the HK government. And why is that? Regardless of whether it was indeed poor handling or not, no state can tell us that because we are sovereign as they are. Par in parem non habit imperium. What we do inside our jurisdiction is an act of state which no other state or international personality can intervene.

The ICC can only interfere if it has proven initially that the acts committed by PRD is tantamount to genocide or crimes against humanity and that there is a failure of government to address it. The mere fact that the opposition is not silenced, VP Leni, Trillanes and many others can travel the world to openly criticize the President is proof that we have a working system of human rights.

The mere fact that PRD is openly disgusted because high profile drug lords are not charged by the NPS is proof that our judicial system is working. To make the ICC case less compelling is the fact that it is a far cry from genocide or crimes against humanity when in order to fight a disgusting scourge like the PH drug problem, 4-10k are killed in contrast to 1.4 millions who surrendered for rehabilitation. If PRD killed the 1.4 million, then perhaps they have a case. But thoese killed are either due to legitimate police operations or drug related killings, usually, normal occurrences in countries with drug problems like the US, Mexico and the likes.

Here is where the problem of the ICC lies. It has lost moral compass when it can rigidly prosecute less powerful nations and conveniently disgregard the powerful ones who chose not to sign the Rome Statute.

You cannot be a criminal court of the world but only to the small ones with the exception of the bullies.

More importantly, even with only a preliminary examination, that is clearly intervention when they can clearly see that PRD enjoys 80% approval rating, the complainants have questionable credence and most importantly, that is a clearly politically motivated by the vindictive nature of any losing political base. This is aggravated by incidiary and condemnatory speeches made the ICC and some UN officials that virtually imfringes on our self-determination.

A true patriot would take offense even if it is done to any sitting President, regardless if it was PNoy or PRD. It just so happened that we elected a leader who does not want to be bullied and told what to do and the usual wimps we put to office.
