Gab Valenciano, celebrity and entertainer, and a known critic of President Rodrigo Duterte apparently had a change of heart when it comes to his opinion on the President.
In an interview with Philippine Entertainment Portal, Gab, son of singer-dancer Gary Valenciano, said that he respected Duterte and all that he has been doing.
The President was then sitting in his first month in office.
"So, with Duterte, he is the current president. I respect him and everything that he's been doing. Maski na there are some things na I'm not for, it doesn't matter, e. Kasi, at the end of the day, he's our leader and we have to respect him."
Valenciano also said that having people in the opposition is healthy, deeming such as a "doorway to growth".
He said, “Kasi kung wala namang kumukontra sa 'yo, that just means na you're not doing something right."
“And so, with everything that he's been doing so far, I'm very, very happy. I'm very impressed. And I cannot wait to see what else he's about to do kasi one month pa lang naman siya, e," he added.
Valenciano added another praise in his statement , claiming that Durterte "has the most powerful and the biggest opportunity to change the Filipino mindset."
He said that he wishes that the "negativity" springing from the Filipinos towards Duterte would lessen.
"Kasi siyempre, pag leader ka and you're influential, a lot of people will follow you. So, my point is for Duterte, if he can be that voice of change, everybody else will follow," he said.
"So, nakikita ko naman, slowly but surely he's trying to create that change," Valenciano added.
