In his Facebook post, Atty. Glenn Chong stated that Leni Robredo and Romulo Macalintal said that either or both the two of them is not telling the absolute truth on Robredo's declined net worth according to her Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN).
Accoding to Atty.Chong, Robredo and Macalintal said that the deficit of the vice president’s net worth on her SALN was because of the election protest filed by Bongbong Marcos against her. The decline amounting to Php2.2 million pesos was incurred from the day she held the position as Vice President .
The legal adviser of Robredo, Barry Guttierez, said that the deficit was due to expenses incurred in relation to election protest filed by Bongbong Marcos, just like the filing fee, and also, due to personal and household expenses .
According to Atty. Chong, Robredo filed a counter with a filing fee of Php 100,000.00 only and Php 200,000 cash deposit. In total, she expended Php 300,000.00.
Atty. Chong also stated that Romulo Macalintal assured Robredo that she’ll never have a problem on attorney’s fees. “With or without fees, nakahanda kaming ipagtanggol ang mga botong ipinagkatiwala sa kanya ng taong bayan,” Macalintal said before.
Atty. Chong then asked, "Kung libre ang serbisyo ni Macalintal kay Robredo, maliit lamang (P300,000 sa P2.2 million o hindi umabot ng 15%) ang totoong ginastos ni Robredo dahil sa protesta. On his opinion, either Robredo and Macalintal must not be telling the absolute truth. “At very least, may isa sa kanila na nagsisinungaling. Pero pwede ring silang dalawa ay pawang sinungaling,” Atty. Chong concluded.
